Jakarta, Indonesia, 15 March 2017 – Indosat Ooredoo has recorded the end of the financial year of 2016 which was ended by 31 December 2016 with positive net profit of IDR 1,1 trilion, increased 184.4% compared to the same period of the previous year. This success was driven by the increase of operational performance, stable currency rate, and lower foreign currency debt. The Company has recorded 9% growth of revenue of the previous year with consolidated revenue booked was IDR 29.2 trillion.
EBITDA grew by 12,1% to IDR 12,9 trilion (in 2015 it was IDR 11,5 trilion), and EBITDA margin 44,1%. Expenses increased by 3,4% to be IDR 25,2 trilion (2015 was IDR 24,4 trilion). Revenue contribution of Mobile, MIDI, and fixed telecommunication is 83%, 14%, and 3% respectively.
Revenue in Mobile increased by 10,0%, mainly driven by the increase in Data, Telephony, SMS, and VAS even with the fact of decreasing revenue from interconnection. Number of mobile subscribers at the end of 2016 has reached 85,7 millions.
The revenue in MIDI has also increased by 10,0% compared to 2015, mainly driven by the growth of IT Services contributed by Lintasarta, one of the subsidiary of Indosat Ooredoo. However, for fixed telecommunications, revenue 2016 decreased by 14,3% due to the decrease in the number of traffics and the strengthen of the currency rate of Rupiah over USD.
The Company has expanded its network nation wide with the additional 5.796 BTS where 5% of it are 3G and 4G BTS to support the growth of data bandwidth usage of the customers. The Company has recorded the growth of the number of mobile subscribers by 16 millions compared to year 2015 was due to the offering of data packages that fits with customers life style and requirements. The Company has also seen the growth of the data traffics has driven the use of bandwidth by 147.1% and the growth of revenue from this data by 46.7% compared to las year performance.
The debt porsion has decreased 58.3% from USD 432.1 million (representing 25% of the total debt) in 2015 to become USD 180.0 million (representing 12% of the total debt) in which Indosat Ooredoo is continuing its innitiatives to reduce the effects of currency rate fluctuation into the Company’s net Profit & Loss position. The total debt from bank loan and obligation also decreased by IDR 3.5 trillion or 14.8% compared to last year performance.
